According to Mr. Abok, the S.V. Coordinator, Broad Sowing is “a high school event that is meant to expose American students outside their country in partnership with the Kenyan Student Venture.” He went on to say that the Mission targets to “reach high school students, both with the presence of Student Venture Ministry and without, in a view to accelerate discipleship.”

There were 60 missioners who were involved during the mission, under the leadership of Mr. Abok, where 13 of them were from the US, while 47 where Kenyan volunteers. The mission, which covered Nairobi, Ruiru, Thika and Nakuru region, targeted 27 schools, including: Moi Forces Academy, Aquinas High School, St. Georges, Bahati Boys, and Gitwe Girls High School.

Gitwe Girls High School is one of the Catalytic Schools in the Student Venture program, where the LIFE Ministry team is training students to lead other students.

The team covered areas of Academic Excellence and Dynamics of Relationships, where they discussed various topics including: Character Building, Setting Goals, Overcoming Barriers, Laws of Excellence, Careers and personalities; as well as Ideal boy/ girl relationships, Setting boundaries, Media Influence, How to relate ideally with parents, teachers and God, Addictions and how to overcome them, and Media.

Part of the team, consisting of Mrs. Tabitha Kanyingi, Mr. Robert Balusi, and Mrs. Fatuma Muinde, reached out to the teachers in 16 of the 27 schools. The three were able to reach 82 teachers, from whom 16 got saved! One of the teachers who went through the training has even considered joining staff in LIFE Ministry, because of the impact felt of the training program that they were taken through. Also, three teachers are going through a follow up Bible Study, which is a praise report of the great things that God is doing in the areas reached.

Mr. Abok continued to say that, “Through Broad Sowing, since 2002 to date, we have reached 80’000 students with a clear presentation of the gospel and a total of 27’000 students have given their lives to Christ.”

Let us continue to pray for the hundreds of students that gave their lives to Christ and also for the Bible study sessions that will be going on in the various High Schools.
