From a mother’s heart…

Mrs. Astrid Nyaga is one of the mothers whose son went through the LEAP program. She is a mother of three boys, and is married to Rev. Ignatius Nyaga. Her last born son, Cyrus Mate, was part of the team of 35 who went through the ten week LEAP program that was being held by the Student Led Ministry, and she reveals the transformation she has seen over the past 10 weeks in her son’s life…

“I feel that the LEAP program has greatly impacted my son,” she began to explain. Mrs. Nyaga mentioned that the program has helped her son to have his quiet time consistently. Cyrus is more deliberate about his time of personal devotion, and quiet time. He has also gotten to know his rights in God.

Cyrus has a burden to tell people about his faith in God. He is more bold about proclaiming his faith, and reaching out to others to help them see the joy he has in knowing Christ. Cyrus has also grown to see the importance of being in a mentorship relationship, and as such, he has gotten mentors, and also seeks to mentor others.

Some of the noticeable changes that Mrs. Nyaga pointed out included: a heart of servitude. She mentioned how Cyrus desires to be a servant to others, and has really embraced the attitude of servant hood. He has also changed in how he approaches reading and practicing God’s Word. Cyrus now initiates the devotion time in the family set up, where he asks each family member to share what they had learnt in their individual Quiet time, and having the family grow together.

Mrs. Nyaga also mentioned that this impact was not just visible in her son, but in her son’s friends too! She pointed out one particular friend who shared with her how he was now waking up earlier to read the Word of God and pray. The Friend desires to learn how to sing. He even mentioned to the family that the things he has learnt in LEAP are far much more than everything else he has learnt throughout his life since he got to know Christ!

The Friend’s Mother also mentioned that there was notable change in the friend’s commitment to Church, whereby he now spends more time in Church, and is eager to stay through the service and grasp as much as he can, as opposed to how he would struggle to stay through one Church service, and hardly wait to be done with it in order to get back home and watch the television!

“As Parents, what we are doing now is encouraging them to continue with these valuable life skills,” Mrs. Nyaga said, “And to remind them to choose friends-the right friends.”

The Lord seeks just one of these, that he will use to establish his Heart’s desires and Soul’s purposes. 1Samuel 1…….
