Just as I am…

I was driving a Subaru Leone one afternoon along Thika road on official duty. Along the way just after Utalii hotel, the car stalled. I tried to start it but it wouldn’t budge. A matatu that was behind me overtook and as they did that, the driver shouted to me, “ondoa mkebe barabarani!” (Take that junk off the road). Shortly after, a guy driving a Nice Audi passes and said to me, “Boss kama gari imekushinda kumaintain, ingia matatu,” (if you are unable to maintain your vehicle, just use public transport.) My feelings were really hurt so I cried out to God to give me strength.

Peter testifying of God's goodness...

Two policemen then approached me and asked what my problem was. We got involved in some small talk after which they helped me push the car forward to try getting it to a nearby petrol station. A bout 400 metres into our push, we found an accident; the Audi had rammed into the matatu. The policemen had to go ensure that the two parties came to an agreement. So we stopped pushing the car and I also got involved in the discussions.

I had with me a Nigerian version of the 4 spiritual laws booklet; unlike our Kenyan one, this one is green. I challenged the matatu guy to forgive the other guy as he also needed forgiveness from time to time. I walked round the car and I noticed that he did not have one bulb which clearly was another accident involvement. I learnt from the tout that they had knocked a lady’s car and she had forgiven them, so with that in mind they agreed to forgive the Audi driving man. I then walked to the owner of the Audi and shared with him laws 3 and 4. He did not hesitate but quickly prayed and invited Christ into his life.

I was so humbled to lead an affluent man to Christ! We exchanged contacts and he drove off. I got into my old car and after just one try, it started! God had used my car to make sure someone came to know Him personally. I have since been meeting with him to help him grow in his walk with Christ. He invited me to his posh home in Kitisuru so that I would be a witness to his wife that he indeed gave his life to Christ. My wife and I went to his house and we learnt that he had a crippled child that he had rejected. He repented of that sin and has since accepted the child.

I am grateful for that experience, I am so glad I obeyed God when He asked me to share His good news. I would encourage you brethren to do the same. Obey God when He speaks and trust Him to do what He promised he would do, show you great and mighty things that you do not know.”

The 4 spiritual Laws booklet is a simple and easy to use tool for sharing Christ. It is available at the LIFE bookshop situated at LIFE Ministry Resource Centre in Hurlinghum. It has been used globally for about 60 years and is still very effective.
