Mzuzu Mission…

“In Kenya, we are so privileged because we have the opportunity of hearing the gospel any time we want. I believe God has made this so for a reason. It is therefore our responsibility to reach out to those who don’t have similar opportunities.”

These are the strong feelings of Beatrice Kirujah one of the missionaries to Mzuzu in Malawi from NPC Valley Road. The mission was one of the projects to be carried out in the NLTC (New Life Training Curriculum) training happening at the church weekly. They were led by Life Ministry’s, Francis Odhiambo who has been facilitating the training. Out of the 60 NLTC students 22 attended the mission.

The Missioners on their way...

They were hosted by Pastor of NPC Mzuzu. 3,600 Malawians were exposed to the gospel and about 1108 of them gave their lives to Jesus Christ! The mission included door-to-door evangelism, Jesus Film shows and crusades. The team enjoyed themselves and all agree that there is need to go back and share Christ with the people.

Beatrice adds that the NLTC course offered by LIFE Ministry Kenya was very effective, as she used what she learnt in the field. She advocates follow-up training to be offered to everyone, especially those that participate in missions. She notes that one of the biggest problems faced by missionaries roots from lack of initial discipleship. She believes that more churches need to be involved in such missions, as the ripple effect would be properly absorbed.

A group being taken through the NLTC training...

By the end of week, the church attendance had grown by 20 people, who had been reached though the mission. The pastor found the mission so effective that he engaged LIFE Ministry Malawi in getting 30 people trained on NLTC. The training is ongoing and we believe this is the first cycle of many more trainings to happen in NPC Mzuzu.

“The people of Mzuzu are very respectful, receptive and welcoming. I cannot remember anyone rejecting me and my team mates. I can’t remember anyone being rude or creating any debates. Those who didn’t have time excused themselves in a polite way. So I enjoyed ministering to the people because they were eager to listen.

Mzuzu is a very ripe ground for the Gospel yet the laborers are few. Even those who are born again are not well acquainted with outreach. I would therefore wish to go back not only to reach out to new converts but also to disciple and train the locals to do the same.

I recommend the incorporation of more than one church and the first one or two days to be for basic training to the locals in the churches on how to do effective outreach, follow up and discipling.

These are the areas I found lacking in the church that hosted us.”

These words represent the feelings of most missionaries that attended. Every year, LIFE Ministry Kenya sends missionaries to various parts of Africa. You too can be a missionary, if you cannot attend, you can send someone through giving financially.

Missioner’s Testimony

“I got born again in Feb 25th 2007 and have been involved in mission work since. I felt the need to have more knowledge to be more effective in the ministry so I joined the NLTC training in my church.  The best lessons are “How to fulfill the Great Commission” and “How to be filled with the Holy Spirit”. These really touched my heart.

The training was effective especially since I used the skills I had learned in the mission field. The one thing I enjoyed most was sharing the Four Spiritual laws. I would recommend the training to others.

I would love to go back to Mzuzu. The opportunities for Ministry are big and there is so much to offer in terms of training and teaching. Given a chance to go back to Mzuzu, I would instill more emphasis on Teaching, Discipleship, Training on Evangelism and Quarterly Workshops.

Indeed the Harvest is Ripe in Mzuzu, All we have to do is to take hold of the opportunities and use what we have to expand God’s Kingdom. In Kenya we have a lot to offer, if we could just open our eyes and allow God to work in and through us.”

Missions always have a way of making the great commission more of a reality than a given command.
